Wolfgang Rabenstein was born in 1985 in Bruck an der Mur. He began taking pictures and writing short stories in 1992, at the age of seven. After he graduated from school, which had an emphasis on media design, he focused his attention at various areas, including photography and writing, and produced several websites, animations and commercial photographies in the following years. In 2013, after he received a Bachelor’s degree in Software Design from the FH Joanneum University of Applied Sciences in Austria, he began to concentrate on creative photography. Two years later, he succeeded with his first participation on a nationalwide competition for photography by reaching the finals. From 2017 – 2018 he attented at the Academy of applied Photography in Graz. During his studies, he was able to evolve his creative photography and had his first group exhibition with four other students. In March 2018 Beyond The Sky went online. After that he had several exhibitions and movie screenings in Graz and Salzburg, where he took part at his first time in the categories photography, film and literature alltogether.
Wolfgang Rabenstein’s works include socio-political as well as philosophical themes, but additionally presuppose a very intensive exchange of the artist with himself. His work is always based on text and sound, which can be found in one form or another. His photographic works appeal through their visual and emotional complexitivity, whilst his readings and cinematic works convincing due to their very affecting directness. This poetry of sensitivity, interpretation and concretization seduces to immerse in his works and to find oneself in another world.
